FAQ's
What's the difference between the gray and white layers?
The white inner layers of the Gem Glow Gold & Silver Polishing Cloth are treated with a trade-secret tarnish remover. It is designed for use on metals such as gold, silver and platinum. The gray outer layers are untreated. To clean gemstones, we recommend using the gray outer cloth on gemstones. To clean metals first polish with the treated inner layer and then buff and polish with the outer layer.
Will this product remove tarnish?
Yes! The whited inner layers are treated with a specially designed tarnish remover.
Can I use this polishing cloth on gemstones?
We recommend using the outer gray layers on gemstones to remove fingerprints and smudges. Gemstones do not tarnish so it’s not necessary to use the inner treated layers on gemstones.
Can I wash the polishing cloth?
The Polishing Cloth should not be washed. The white inner layer is treated and that treatment is what will remove tarnish from your gold and silver jewelry. If you launder the cloth, it will remove the treatment and it will not be as effective.
The black marks you are seeing on the white fabric are evidence of the tarnish being removed from your jewelry! You can use both sides of the white cloth for tarnish removal and polishing.
