Pearls, coral, and turquoise are considered soft and porous gemstones. These stones are vulnerable to certain chemicals and should not be cleaned with ammonia, household cleaners, or harsher professional jewelry cleaners. The Delicate Jewelry Cleaner, Jewelry Cleaning Stick, and Wipes are gentle enough to clean jewelry with these types of stones. To clean strands of pearls dampen a soft cloth with the Delicate Jewelry Cleaner and wipe pearls. Do not soak strands of pearls.
How do I clean pearls?
Use the Gem Glow Delicate Jewelry Cleaner to clean all cultured, freshwater, saltwater, and imitation pearl jewelry. To clean pearl rings and earrings soak jewelry in cleanser for two minutes. Rinse and blot dry with a soft cloth. To clean strands of pearls like necklaces or bracelets, dampen a soft cloth with the Delicate Jewelry Cleaner and wipe to clean. Do not soak strands.
Will this product remove tarnish?
The Delicate Jewelry Cleaner is safe for sterling silver, however it will not remove tarnish. To remove tarnish use the Silver Jewelry Cleaner and Gold & Silver Polishing Cloth.
How often should I clean my jewelry at home?
Gem Glow jewelry cleaners are safe for daily use, but you can use them as needed. Jewelry you wear frequently like engagement rings and watches will collect grime and dirt and should be cleaned frequently.
